D-2 withstands a high amount of shock and is used for cold-forming applications. D-2 performs well where high production and close tolerance are required. This material provides excellent resistance to wear, and offers a great combination of strength and toughness, as well as affordability. Additionally, D-2 has good hardness due to the richness of chromium. This allows it to hold up to wear applications where it will come in contact with other metals. Use D-2 for rolls, punches, dies, forming, thread rolling, shears, knives, or go/no-go gauges.
